I've been following the Dennis Melvyn Howe case for a while now, and one aspect I find particularly puzzling is the timeline of Howe's disappearance. He was last seen at his workplace at 333 Spadina Avenue on January 24, 1983, just a day after Sharin' Morningstar Keenan went missing. What's odd is how quickly everything seems to have spiraled — from the moment Sharin' disappeared to Howe completely vanishing in just a matter of days.
Was there any indication among Howe’s coworkers or people who saw him on the 24th that he was acting strangely or seemed like he was planning to flee? It seems like he managed to disappear into thin air before the police even had the chance to formally question him. I wonder if there were any missed details in that brief window that could have helped track him down. Even the smallest observation from someone who interacted with him that day might shed more light on his mindset at the time.
Also, Howe's criminal past makes you think — did any of those who knew about his history suspect he could be involved in something so horrific? It's chilling to think that someone could just vanish during a manhunt in such an epic way, almost like he had an escape plan ready to go. Would be interesting to hear thoughts from anyone who remembers those days or what they think could have been done differently as soon as he went missing.
