Kate Huyghe, also known as Katerena Strynadka, left her home in Killam, Alberta on February 21, 1976, and was reported missing after she did not return. She was 56 at the time. Reports say she wore a beige, three-quarter-length wool coat, black pants, and black leather winter boots with suede and fur tops, and carried a dark brown leather purse. She used gold-coloured plastic eyeglasses and wore a gold wedding band, a gold family ring set with coloured stones, and a gold wristwatch.

Physical details include dentures, blue eyes, brown-grey hair, height five feet three inches and about 198 pounds; she also had a scar on her left index finger, a wide scar on her neck, and a bump or scar on her lip. No confirmed sightings have been reported and the case remains open. Very little about the investigation has been released publicly.
