Yvonne King disappeared from Fox Harbour, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador on October 13, 2002, the day she turned 40. Visiting her parents for Thanksgiving, she spent the afternoon walking the village with a childhood friend and told that friend she was going to her partner’s father’s house to pick up a sweater. She was last seen walking on the community’s single main road wearing a white and blue Henley-style shirt and black lace-up leather shoes. She is about five feet four inches tall, roughly 220 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes and typically wore glasses.
A large search followed immediately: land, sea and air efforts; divers and fishermen searched the waters; a police dog was used. Tips later placed possible sightings in Conception Bay South and St. John’s, but none led to Yvonne. Her bank account was not used and there was no contact with family, including her teenage daughter. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police keep the case open and have said all possibilities, including foul play, are being considered. If anyone has information about Yvonne’s movements in October 2002 or remembers seeing her that day, please come forward.
