On June 2, 1968, 33-year-old George Knott was last seen traveling by boat between St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill in the Island Lake area of northern Manitoba. He was reported missing the next day after failing to reach his destination. His boat and his dog were later found but there was no sign of Knott.

Community members and authorities conducted extensive searches across the surrounding terrain, but no further clues were uncovered and the trail went cold. The discovery of the empty boat and his faithful canine companion suggests whatever happened occurred suddenly, but no witnesses or additional evidence have been reported.

Does anyone from Wasagamack First Nation or the Island Lake communities remember details about George Knott’s movements that weekend or the search that followed?
