Selwyn Hall, 57, was shot and killed on April 26, 2017, in Jacksonville during an officer-involved shooting after a reported domestic violence incident. Officers had first gone to East 19th Street earlier that day when the suspect fled; later that night the victim called again saying Hall had returned. When officers, including Officer Ryan McGee, arrived they found Hall seated in a vehicle in the driveway and attempted to arrest him for the earlier dispute. During a struggle Hall allegedly grabbed one of the Tasers and Officer McGee fired eight times, killing Hall at the scene.
The shooting prompted controversy in the local community. Civil rights groups argued the officers’ actions were excessive, and Hall’s wife disputed the police account, saying he did not reach for the Taser and was unjustly shot. Officer McGee was placed on administrative leave and the incident remained under investigation. Does anyone have additional eyewitness details or information about the investigation?
