I’ve been looking into the area where Michael Linklater went missing, and I’m really struck by the sheer isolation of it all. The Abitibi River region is vast and rugged, and it makes me wonder how that played into his disappearance. For those who aren’t familiar, this location is pretty remote—only accessible by train or a long journey by ATV or snowmobile depending on the season. Especially intriguing is that Michael was experienced in navigating such terrains… Was the environment a factor, or could it have been an advantage if he did intend to disappear intentionally?
I’m curious if anyone knows about the weather conditions at the time he went missing—could heavy rain or fog have affected searches or even contributed to disorientation if he was already under stress from personal matters? It just seems like what should’ve been a peaceful retreat turned into something inexplicable and tragic, and the wilderness out there is both beautiful and unforgiving.
