I've been digging into Joyce Anne MacDougall's case, and something that's been on my mind is her interaction with the police in Niagara Falls. Why did they take her to a restaurant after issuing her a ticket? That seems so unusual to me. Did they notice something about her state of mind or demeanor that made them concerned for her well-being? I mean, obviously, this was decades ago, and protocols might have been different, but it feels like a significant piece of the puzzle. Also, if she left her purse at the restaurant, wouldn't that have caught their attention as well? Maybe they thought she'd come back, or maybe they tried to reach out later. Anyone know if there's been any follow-up on this angle, like were the officers ever interviewed again after she was reported missing?
