I was doing some digging into James Frank Martin's case, and something I found incredibly curious was his fascination with hiking and the outdoors. It got me thinking: could there be a chance that he decided to go on a hike or camping trip and something unexpected happened? Maybe he wandered into a secluded spot and got injured or disoriented. The area around Richmond back then would have had some pretty dense and wild places. It's a bit of a long shot, but if he intentionally wanted time alone or even planned to start fresh in nature, he might have ventured further than anyone expected. The police might have focused too much on him running away instead of considering a potential accident or misadventure in the wilderness. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone familiar with the trails and terrain back in the 70s there!
