Harold Donald Maskell was 61 when he was last seen in rural Coles Island, New Brunswick, on September 10, 1999. A cousin reported him missing the next day after finding his house empty. Harold was described as 5 feet 2 inches, 141 pounds, with short grey hair and missing teeth. At the time he vanished he was believed to be wearing a red, white, and blue plaid shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators were told Harold did not drive and was not capable of walking long distances, so the initial search concentrated close to his home. An intensive search of the nearby Canaan River shoreline turned up no clues. There have been no significant public developments and his disappearance remains unsolved.
