Hey everyone, I was digging into Wilfred McArdon's case and came across something I think is worth discussing. Has anyone considered the possibility of mechanical failure on his boat? I know it's been decades, but from what I've read, his Spencer-manufactured boat was pretty solid for its time but not invincible. I remember stories from my grandfather about how wooden boats needed constant maintenance, especially in those waters where weather conditions can change rapidly. It's a long shot, but could overlooked wear and tear have contributed to his disappearance? Maybe an unexpected malfunction? Would love to hear if anyone has any insights or similar experiences. It's so frustrating how this case has so many missing pieces, but maybe sharing ideas can shed some light, even after all these years.
