Hey everyone, I just heard something interesting about the search efforts for Ronald McCook that I wanted to share. It's been reported that a K9 unit from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was brought in to help with the search efforts. I've always been fascinated by how these units work. From what I understand, the dogs are trained to pick up on very specific scents, even when missing persons have been gone for several days, which is apparently what they were tasked to do here. It’s a crucial tool, especially in areas as vast and rugged as the Saik’Uz Reserve. Knowing this, it makes me wonder how much more challenging it might be if the weather conditions weren't cooperating. January in BC can be a mixed bag in terms of weather, so I'm hoping they were able to get some good leads. Anyone here have insights on how these units usually operate in such conditions? It feels like such an intricate and demanding job, but also one filled with hope. Hoping for the best outcome for Ronald and his family.
