Simon McDonald, a 67-year-old elder from White Dog First Nation near Kenora, Ontario, disappeared on the morning of May 9, 2001. At about 10:30 a.m. he left his daughter’s home intending to walk the very short distance to his own house next door and never arrived. Community members and authorities conducted extensive searches of the area and wider community but found no trace of him.
The disappearance occurred during a routine, familiar walk in a close-knit, remote community, and no explanation or clues have emerged from the searches. His family and community have carried the uncertainty and hope for answers for decades.
If anyone who lived in or visited White Dog First Nation around May 2001 remembers seeing Simon or noticed anything unusual that morning, please come forward with information.
