Corry Don Fausett, a 55-year-old man, was found dead inside his Provo, Utah, home on the evening of January 6, 2024, after a domestic disturbance call. Officers discovered him in a hallway near a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds: one to his right side, one to the back of his head, and two to the left side of his face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 56-year-old wife, Melissa Johnson-Fausett, met officers on the front porch and was identified as the sole suspect. She told investigators she had shot her husband in self-defense after he allegedly attacked her in the bedroom, grabbed her by the neck, and hit her on the head. She said she took a gun from beside her on the bed and fired as he tried to leave, continuing to shoot because she feared he would retrieve another weapon.

Scene evidence conflicted with that account. Burn marks on his face consistent with close-range shots, damage to the floor beneath his body, a gun with blood spatter found in Melissa Johnson-Fausett’s purse, and a medical exam that found no injuries consistent with her claimed assault led investigators to conclude the shooting was not self-defense. Melissa Johnson-Fausett was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on a charge of murder.

Did anyone know the Fausetts or see activity at their northwest Provo home that evening?
