It's been a while since we last talked about Bertha Audrey Melvin, but I was thinking again about the Waterways neighborhood she was supposedly frequenting. Could there be places there that offered some kind of sanctuary for her? I mean, if she visited that part of town often, maybe she found a place where she felt safe enough to spend time without anyone noticing. Were there any social services or community centers in the area back in 2003 where she could have sought help without drawing attention? And another thing—considering her introverted nature, is it possible she found solace in more secluded spots around Waterways? Did anyone ever check abandoned buildings or sparsely populated areas? I know it’s a long shot and maybe even already covered, but it’s strange for someone to just vanish like that without leaving more of a trace. I just keep wondering if there’s an overlooked detail from back then that could still be explored.
