Just stumbled upon this case and something that really sticks out to me is the missing 30-30 rifle. Given how familiar William was with the wilderness, you'd think he’d have brought along that rifle out of habit for protection and hunting. But here's my thought: what if something happened that didn't allow him to return to the cabin or at least to put the rifle back? It's a long shot, but couldn't it be possible that someone else was out there with him, unbeknownst to the searchers? No tracks or equipment left behind makes it all the more eerie. Maybe someone should dig deeper into whether anyone else was in the area that day. Thoughts?
