A young man was shot dead in a Pine Bluff apartment complex parking lot on November 4, 2024. Police found 22-year-old Taron Jerrell Dismuke unresponsive on the north side of the Suzanne Apartments at 2123 S. Blake Street around 4:30 p.m.; emergency personnel could not revive him and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound.

About two hours later, 22-year-old Leon Jermaine Johnson turned himself in to the Pine Bluff Police Department. Detectives took him into custody, interviewed him, and he faces a charge of first-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses about what led to the fatal shooting in the apartment lot.
