Steven Leslie O’Brien was 18 when he vanished from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in the early hours of March 20, 1993. A first-year student at Holland College’s Culinary Institute who hoped to become a chef, he finished a shift on March 19 and later went to a downtown nightclub with friends. The last confirmed sighting was about 1:30 a.m. on March 20, leaving a pub on Richmond Street and walking south on Queen Street. He was dressed in a white t-shirt, jeans, hiking boots and a burgundy winter jacket, stood 5 feet 6 inches and weighed about 140 pounds, and wore wire-framed prescription glasses.

His wallet and other personal items were left at his apartment, and he was reported missing when he did not return. The case generated many tips early on; over the years poster campaigns and a reward have been used and a memorial scholarship, the Steven O’Brien Legacy Award for Aspiring Chefs at Holland College, was created by family and friends. Law enforcement keeps the investigation open and has not ruled out any possibilities.

If anyone knew Steven that night or has information about his movements after leaving the pub, please come forward.
