I came across the case of Siew Fong Oei recently, and one detail that's always puzzled me is the fact that she seemingly vanished into thin air right in the heart of Toronto. I've lived here most of my life, and even back in 1981, it seems like someone—a neighbor, a passerby, anyone—would have seen something or remembered something about that day. Toronto is a big city, but it's also a community where people usually look out for each other. Does anyone remember if there were any efforts involving the local communities back then, even just informal ones, to help find her? Any searches or flyers that might have been organized? Sometimes, informal efforts like those bring out details that might not make it into official records but could be crucial. Just curious if anyone's dug into that aspect before.
