Cortez Brown, 26, was shot and killed in Marion, Arkansas on the evening of Saturday, October 7, 2023. Deputies from the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of Stonebrook Loop and found Brown with fatal gunshot wounds.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Devin Jevon Simpson in connection with the shooting. Simpson was charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by certain persons, and multiple counts of committing a terroristic act, and was being held on $250,000 bond while the investigation continued.

Anyone with information about Cortez Brown, the incident on Stonebrook Loop, or the investigation is asked to come forward.
