Dr. Jitinkumar Devchand Karamshi Shah, a 45-year-old physician who had moved to Stephenville, Newfoundland & Labrador in November 1990, disappeared in the early hours of May 5, 1991. He worked at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and had previously lived in Sheffield, England; his family was in Nairobi, Kenya at the time. He is East Indian, five feet five inches tall, about 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The last confirmed sighting was about 2:45 a.m. on May 5 while he was walking home along Carolina Avenue after dropping a friend off following an evening at the 104 Club. That friend was driven home by Dr. Shah; instead of returning to his own house he continued on foot.
Police searched nearby terrain and dragged a brook on the theory he might have fallen in, but found no trace. Investigators have said they do not suspect foul play but have not been able to rule it out, and the investigation has remained open. No further sightings or evidence have been reported. Does anyone in Stephenville from that time remember seeing Dr. Shah or have information about his route that night?
