Stella St Arnault was 15 when she vanished from the John D’Or Prairie Reserve in northern Alberta on August 17, 1971. Following a family argument that morning she was last seen running into nearby woods. Stella is described as thin, 5 feet 3 inches, about 106 pounds, with long black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. She was remembered in one account as wearing a reversible nylon jacket (white and black or green and white), a red short-sleeved blouse, white pants and black shoes.
An initial search of the surrounding wilderness found no trace. Community members later joined searches; a nephew recovered a jacket near his house but no other belongings or confirmed sightings have ever been reported. The Fort Vermilion RCMP classifies Stella as endangered missing and the investigation remains open. Little information has been released publicly since her disappearance.
If anyone on John D’Or Prairie in August 1971 knew Stella, saw her that day, or has information that could help, please come forward.
