Joseph Francis Taylor was last seen leaving his home in St. Thomas, Ontario, around midnight on July 30, 2001. He was 42 and described as a Caucasian male about 5 feet 8 inches and 170 pounds, medium build, brown eyes, greying brown hair, crooked teeth and a five-centimeter tattoo of a sword with a snake on his left forearm. Reports say he was despondent that night and dealing with personal and financial problems but had told family he would return soon; he never did.
St. Thomas Police Service kept the investigation open and in March 2018 said his was the last active missing persons file in the city. Investigators have circulated his information nationally, noting links to Alberta and British Columbia and a prevailing theory that he may have traveled to the Kelowna area and worked as a general labourer, possibly living under a new identity. No foul play is suspected.
Did anyone in Alberta or British Columbia know Joseph or see him after July 30, 2001?
