A disturbance on Washington Street in Waterbury, Connecticut, during the early morning hours of June 4, 2024, ended with gunfire that killed Roberto Manuel Baez Jr., a 30-year-old Hispanic man. After the shooting, Baez was taken by private vehicle to Saint Mary’s Hospital; he was later pronounced dead, and the case was treated as a homicide. Police found evidence of the shooting outside a residence on the 60 block of Washington Street and were dispatched after reports of gunfire at about 12:16 a.m.
The Waterbury Police Detective Bureau pursued the investigation for months and identified a suspect. In December, authorities announced an arrest warrant for 25-year-old Angel Rodriguez on charges including murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal use of a weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, and first-degree reckless endangerment. The search for Rodriguez is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Did anyone in the Waterbury area see or hear anything that night or know anything about Rodriguez that could help investigators?
