On the afternoon of March 7, 2024, 18-year-old Kejohn Alexander Johnson, a Black / African American male known to some as Noodles, was found unresponsive from a gunshot wound to the head inside a first-floor apartment on the 300 block of Olive Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures but Johnson was pronounced dead; police say this was the city’s first homicide of the year.
Police described the scene as targeted, noting several bullet holes in the apartment’s back door. Johnson, a student at University School, had been sent home early that day after a fight with a female student. Surveillance footage played a key role: video reportedly showed a man in black arrive in a Mercedes Benz, pace across the street for hours, check a package on the porch, then run from the back of the house after shots were fired through the door.
Bridgeport police arrested 19-year-old Romaine Morgan on March 12, 2024, charging him with murder, tampering with evidence, and carrying a pistol without a permit; investigators say Morgan claimed Johnson had robbed him in November and later confessed, saying he waited for Johnson and shot him through the back door. Did anyone see activity on Olive Street that afternoon or have information about the lead-up to Johnson’s death?
