Jordan Robinson, 22, was fatally shot on Kenyon Street in Waterbury, Connecticut, on December 17, 2023. Police found Robinson lying unresponsive in the road around 4:40 p.m. after a report of a person shot; he was transported to a local hospital and died shortly after. Authorities described the killing as the result of a robbery gone wrong during a prearranged marijuana deal. Robinson was sitting in his car with his girlfriend when assailants ambushed them and one of the suspects shot him in the chest. Despite his wound, Robinson exited the vehicle and fired his own registered handgun at the fleeing suspects before collapsing.
Four people were arrested in connection with the homicide: Jeremy Rivera, Christopher Ortiz, Jlonn Coles, and Elijah Middleton. Coles and Middleton were 17 at the time of the incident. All four face multiple charges including murder, felony murder, and first-degree robbery. Rivera has pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery; the other cases are proceeding through the court system. Robinson was a former standout football player at several local high schools and the University of New Haven and was remembered at court hearings as active in his community.
