On November 3, 1963, 38-year-old Charles Theodore Williams left Cartwright, Newfoundland & Labrador alone in a 12-foot outboard motorboat and never returned. He was operating the boat offshore from his hometown; the Labrador Sea’s November conditions are mentioned as unforgiving. Local search efforts and community searches were carried out, but there was no immediate sign of Williams or his vessel.
It is not publicly known whether the boat, debris, or any other wreckage was ever recovered. The disappearance remains unresolved and has been a lasting loss for Williams’s family and the community. If anyone knew Charles, his boating habits, or saw anything on or near the water that day, please share what you remember.
