Robin Kenneth Windross was 21 when he disappeared from the Huronia Regional Centre in Orillia, Ontario on November 15, 1977. Described as having the intellectual capacity of a six-year-old, neat straight brown hair, brown eyes and a pronounced speech impediment, Robin had lived at the centre since age five. He had reportedly been anxious about a recent transfer from a children’s ward to an adult unit.

Staff initially thought he might have gone to an Orillia Terriers–Cambridge Hornets hockey game with a group transported by bus, but the driver’s record showed Robin was not on that trip. Accounts differ on when staff last saw him that evening; some said later in the night while the parents were told he hadn’t been seen since 6 p.m. Radio broadcasts and searches of the grounds and nearby neighbourhoods by police and volunteers turned up no sign of him.

Police later reclassified the file as a missing person investigation in which foul play cannot be ruled out and family DNA has been compared to unidentified remains with no matches found. If anyone knew Robin, his routines at the centre, or saw him in Orillia around November 15, 1977, please come forward with information.
