Annie Yassie was 13 when she disappeared from Churchill, Manitoba, on the evening of June 22, 1974. She had returned to Churchill a week earlier after attending Mackay Residential School in Dauphin. On Treaty Day she was seen with a man at least ten years older; a taxi driver last saw them being dropped at a gravel pit about three kilometres from the Dene Village. The driver said Annie appeared heavily intoxicated and nearly passed out, and the man pulled her from the vehicle.

Her family did not report her missing until June 26, when it became clear nobody had seen her since the festivities. Searches with community volunteers, dogs and helicopters found no trace; houses in the Dene Village were checked. The man she was last seen with was questioned and said he remembered blacking out from drinking. The family believes foul play was involved; the man has since died. The RCMP contacted the family in 2014 saying the file was being reopened. Annie remains classified as an endangered missing person and the case is unsolved.

Did anyone in Churchill in June 1974 see Annie or recall the gravel pit gatherings that night?
