Darious Beale, 29, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Laurel Grove apartments in Orange Park, Florida, on June 28, 2024, at about 11 p.m. According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, he was outside when he was struck multiple times, was taken to a hospital, and later died of his injuries. Investigators say Beale was believed to have been targeted and that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like four or five gunshots and initially thought they were fireworks because children were playing nearby; one neighbor who asked to remain anonymous said the children kept playing and did not seem to be screaming for help. Beale’s family has described him on social media as a devoted father; he leaves three children. There is no suspect information available and the Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to come forward.
