On June 13, 2024, Deerfield Beach police responded to a violent scene that left 23-year-old Marrina Guadagnino and her infant son, Andre Lanns III, dead. According to reports, Andre Lanns, 27, the infant’s father and Guadagnino’s boyfriend, called 911 around 5:45 a.m., saying in a muffled voice that he had shot himself; a baby could be heard crying and two gunshots are audible before the call cut off. Neighbors then reported encountering a bleeding man with a gun at their doors and near a vehicle.

Deputies found Lanns in the driveway, covered in blood and holding a gun to his head; he ignored commands, ran toward officers urging them to shoot him, and was taken into custody after being transported to the hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower chin. About 8:22 a.m., an AC repair worker alerted deputies to blood at the home; inside, Guadagnino was found in the master bedroom, shot multiple times, and the infant was found in a bassinet with gunshot wounds to the right side of his head and his abdomen. The couple had moved into the house about a week earlier and had been together roughly three years; both were military veterans. Motive remains unclear and Lanns was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
