On June 5, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred at the Golf Pointe Villas apartment complex on Sheoah Boulevard in Winter Springs, Florida. The victim was 51-year-old Adel Tawfeek; his wife, 38-year-old Laurie Adams, shot him in the head on the back porch after an argument that began when their 8-year-old autistic son defecated in his pants. Tawfeek had reportedly yelled at the child, pushed Adams against a wall during the argument, and later continued verbal and physical aggression before sitting on the back porch with a beer.
Adams took about 15 minutes to calm, retrieved Tawfeek’s gun from his bedroom closet, loaded it, and then walked out and shot him. Police arrived shortly after midnight, found Tawfeek with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, and he was pronounced dead at Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford. Adams was arrested, read her rights, gave a detailed account to officers, and was charged with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm. She was held without bond and scheduled to appear in court on July 23; a Seminole County grand jury later indicted her on one count of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm. Adams had texted her mother days before the shooting asking her to care for their son if anything happened. The investigation is ongoing.
Did anyone in the Winter Springs area see or hear anything around midnight on June 5 that could shed light on the events that night?
