On May 28, 2024, Traske C. Johnson, 33, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Colonial Plaza in Inverness, Florida. Deputies from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office found Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries. The shooting followed a physical altercation between Johnson and another business owner at the plaza, identified as 35-year-old Dwann D.

Ross. Investigators say Ross grabbed a gun during the fight and shot Johnson multiple times. Ross was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder; he was being held without bond at the Citrus County Detention Facility. Johnson is described as a fun and loving person who is survived by his family; the shooting has deeply affected the local community.
