On January 24, 2024, two men were found shot to death inside a residence on Trails End Drive in Punta Gorda, Florida. The victims were identified as Mario Schiano, born May 25, 1976, and Anthony Galeotti, born August 18, 1979. Charlotte County dispatchers received the call just before 1:00 PM and deputies and Major Case Unit detectives secured the scene.

Investigators say the motive was related to drugs and money. Arrests followed: Kelly Schiano and Everett Michael Harper were charged with criminal conspiracy to commit a capital felony, and Justin Robert Casagranda, 35, was identified as the suspected hired killer. Casagranda, a longtime family friend who had lived at the Trails End Drive home until about two years earlier, was arrested in Athens, Georgia; a firearm was recovered at his residence and he was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and faces two counts of second-degree murder in Charlotte County.
