Terrance Farrington Jr. was 17 when he was shot and killed outside a Best Buy in Plantation, Florida, on January 20, 2024. His father said the killing was a case of mistaken identity. The shooting became central to a broader interagency probe after investigators recovered a fingerprint belonging to 27-year-old gang leader Sigmund Brown from a car tied to the homicide scene.

That recovery helped link the slaying to a series of violent crimes attributed to a gang known as the Dania Hot Boyz or Grand Mafia. The joint investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the State Attorney’s Office, and partners identified eight homicides, including Farrington’s, and more than a dozen attempted murders across Broward County. Eight suspects were charged in a 33-count indictment that included eight first-degree murder counts and charges such as attempted murder, conspiracy, racketeering, and possession of a machine gun; those named include Sigmund Brown, Kevaris Johnson, Gerard Charles, Vondarious Davis, Rajah Rolle, Tyriq Jackson, Jared McCabe, and Trayvon Key, and each defendant who appeared in court pleaded not guilty.

Farrington’s family said they were grateful the case had been resolved, despite the tragedy. Does anyone have information about Terrance’s movements that day or witnessed the shooting outside the Best Buy?
