Thomas Gage Skipper, 25, was killed in an accidental shooting at a Yulee home on January 13, 2024. The gathering on St. John Court was a small group of friends watching a Miami Dolphins–Kansas City Chiefs game when a handgun Skipper had brought out became the focus of the fatal injury. Skipper, who went by Gage, had removed the magazine and reportedly unloaded the gun before handing it to close friend and former Marine Tyler Shepperd. Shepperd pulled the trigger believing the firearm was not loaded; the shot proved deadly.

First responders attempted life-saving measures but Skipper was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators concluded the handling of the handgun was careless; Shepperd was arrested on a manslaughter charge, released on $100,000 bond, and scheduled for a February court date. Family members described Skipper as witty, smart, faith‑devoted and an animal lover, and asked for prayers for everyone affected by the tragedy. Did anyone who knew Gage or was at the St. John Court gathering come forward with information?
