On November 1, 2023, 64-year-old Tina Gay Hamilton of Putnam County was found dead at her home in Welaka after a reported shooting at 104 Penny Acres Lane. Deputies responding to the call discovered Tina unconscious with a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene. A .38 revolver was recovered with one live round and one spent shell casing.
