Carson Liam Owens was 16 when he was killed during a shooting at a Quinceañera in Okeechobee, Florida, on August 27, 2023. Three other teenagers were wounded in the same incident. Carson, born September 1, 2006, in Stuart and a lifetime Okeechobee resident, attended Okeechobee High School Virtual School and helped in his family’s business. Family members remember him as someone who loved everyone and was loved in return.

A 17-year-old, Sebastian Urbano, was arrested September 8, 2023, and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm; his bond was set at $750,000. Urbano had once been a friend of Carson’s and they played on the same soccer team, a detail that has left the family seeking motive. The Owens family says investigators have not identified all potential suspects; Carson’s mother and sister have been independently contacting people and collecting information, and the Sheriff’s Office has asked the public for video or witnesses. The family is raising funds to increase the reward for information.

If anyone attended that Quinceañera or has video or information that hasn’t been shared with investigators, please come forward.
