David Jackson, 41, was shot and killed on July 27, 2023, at the Goldelm at Regency Oaks Apartments in Casselberry, Florida. Police say the shooting followed a heated argument between Jackson and his girlfriend’s 22-year-old nephew Joel Thomas Ferrer. The dispute reportedly began when Ferrer was mishandling a gun and Jackson confronted him; the confrontation escalated into a physical fight and Ferrer fired, striking Jackson several times.

Officers responding to a 911 call from a neighbor who reported hearing gunshots and screaming found Jackson injured and he was taken to a hospital, where he later died. A warrant has been issued charging Ferrer with second-degree murder; police describe him as at large and armed and dangerous and have urged him to turn himself in.
