Ariel Griffin, 30, a mother of two, was shot to death at Monterey Boats in Williston, Florida, on Monday, June 19, 2023. The suspect identified in her killing was 31-year-old Jonathon Jerome Segar, a man who had a prior domestic relationship with Griffin. Segar allegedly entered the workplace early in the morning and shot Griffin before fleeing in a Chevrolet truck bearing blue and yellow graphics for DGD Discount Garage Doors.

Investigators from the Williston Police Department, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and the 8th Judicial Circuit pursued Segar after witnesses and calls linked him to repeated domestic threats against Griffin and her new boyfriend over the preceding weekend. The search extended into Georgia, where a deputy spotted Segar’s vehicle and a pursuit began. During the chase Segar reportedly fired on deputies, crashed his vehicle, and a single gunshot was heard; officers found Segar dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the crash scene.

Family described Griffin as kind and devoted to her children, and her mother, Diane Powell, said she had repeatedly called law enforcement about threats beforehand and was frustrated that more was not done to protect her. Does anyone have information about Ariel’s life, the days leading up to June 19, 2023, or the events at Monterey Boats?
