Napoleon Brown, 35, of Jacksonville, Florida, died June 10, 2023, after a shooting inside an Orange Park home on Constitution Drive. Clay County deputies responding to a 911 call found Brown on the floor between the kitchen and living room with a fatal gunshot wound; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Deputies detained John Robert Thigpen at the residence and during a security sweep recovered a semi-automatic handgun near Brown’s body, bloody drag marks on the floor, and two spent bullet rounds. Thigpen had visible injuries around his left eye and, according to the arrest report, gave inconsistent statements and delayed reporting the shooting. He was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Clay County jail; bond was denied.
Neighbors described the family as quiet and said the sudden, violent event left the community shocked and saddened. If anyone has information about what led to the argument that escalated into violence, please come forward.
