Gary Levin, a 74-year-old Lyft driver from Palm Beach Gardens, was reported missing after picking up a fare in Delray Beach. Levin’s phone last pinged in the Okeechobee area, and police later located his body there. Authorities identified 35-year-old Matthew Flores as a person of interest; Flores was arrested in North Carolina after a high-speed chase while driving a red Kia Stinger that belonged to Levin.
Flores was held at the Rutherford County Jail in North Carolina before being extradited to Florida. No charges had been filed in Levin’s death in the initial reporting, but Flores faces several criminal charges in Florida tied to the death of 43-year-old Jose Carlos Martinez, including first-degree murder, grand theft, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The State Attorney’s Office in Okeechobee County has confirmed Flores is a person of interest in Levin’s death.
Who knew Gary Levin or saw him in Delray Beach or the Okeechobee area around the time he disappeared?
