Darelle Donte Porter was a 30-year-old African-American man from Mount Dora, Florida who was shot to death on the night of September 15, 2015. Neighbors on Vine Street in Sorrento reported hearing what sounded like a truck, then four or five quick gunshots. Around 11:30 p.m. a woman driving near Vine Street and Oak Avenue found a man lying in a driveway; paramedics pronounced Porter dead at the scene after he was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe Porter was walking down the street when he was killed. They traced his movements that evening to locations in Mount Dora and Sorrento between about 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Two days after the shooting detectives named a person of interest, Andrew Smurf Woodruff Jr., then 31, who had reportedly been seen with Porter in a light-colored pickup truck that night. No arrests have been announced and the case went cold.

Anyone with information about Porter’s activities on or about September 15, 2015, or who was with him that night is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Team.
