Marciano Kirkland, a 35-year-old Black man, was killed on November 12, 2024, inside a home on the 1400 block of Hephzibah-McBean Road in Hephzibah, Georgia. Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 3 p.m. for a reported shooting and found Kirkland inside the residence with at least one gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene that afternoon. An autopsy was scheduled and investigators treated the death as a homicide.

Authorities arrested Jordan Walden, who was 17 at the time and described as Kirkland’s roommate, on November 12, 2024. Walden was reported as facing charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime; no other suspect was named in the reporting.
