Kelvin Church was 17 when he was shot at the intersection of Furlow and Jester Streets in Camilla, Georgia, on the afternoon of October 30, 2024. He was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries on November 5, with his mother at his side. An autopsy was scheduled at the GBI Crime Lab.

Investigators from the Camilla Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation led the probe. A multi-agency manhunt including the U.S. Marshals Service and the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office focused on 19-year-old Terryon Maleek Martin of Pelham, Georgia. Authorities located Martin at a Pelham residence on Back Nine Road on December 3, 2024; he was found concealed inside a kitchen cabinet that had been screwed shut and was taken into custody. Martin faces charges of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During a Felony. His 39-year-old father, Terry Phillip Martin, was arrested on a charge of hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.

The motive remains under investigation. If anyone has information about Kelvin, the shooting, or the events leading up to October 30, please come forward.
