Quinton Owens, 67, was shot and later died after being found with a gunshot wound to his torso at a home on Pecan Avenue in Fort Valley, Georgia. Police were called around 2:20 a.m. on October 26, 2024; Owens was taken to Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon and pronounced dead about 3:00 a.m. A 55-year-old woman, Shawn Evans, was found on the front lawn crying near a firearm.
Initial statements by Evans described an intruder and self-defense, but investigators and neighbors reported that Owens had been an invited guest at a small backyard gathering that evening. The Fort Valley Chief of Police, DJ Flores, said preliminary findings did not support the intruder claim. Authorities arrested Evans and charged her with murder and discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Family members described Owens as funny, loving, kind, and family-oriented.
What did neighbors see that night or know about the gathering that could clarify how this fatal shooting occurred?
