On the afternoon of June 25, 2024, 27-year-old Lexus Mutcherson was found with a gunshot wound in the 300 block of North Lathrop Avenue near the Port of Savannah. Emergency responders took Mutcherson to a local hospital, where the injuries proved fatal. Authorities indicated the shooting did not appear random, saying there may have been a connection between the victim and the person or people responsible, and no suspects were publicly identified at the time.

In the days after the killing, a police pursuit involved a man later named Gregory Griffin, who was on parole and had a 2014 voluntary manslaughter conviction. During that encounter Griffin allegedly fired at officers and was wounded when officers returned fire; he was later indicted in October 2024 for Mutcherson’s murder. If anyone has information about Lexus, where he spent time that day, or the June 25 shooting, please come forward.
