John T. Donahue Jr., 49, was killed by a stray bullet on the evening of May 20, 2024, while sitting outside a residence on Burks Road in Forest Park, Georgia. Family members say he was using a tablet when a nearby argument between a man and a woman escalated; the man reportedly pulled a firearm and fired multiple rounds, one of which struck Donahue.
Forest Park police investigated the homicide and identified a suspect, Guillermo Diego Hernandez (reported as Guillermo ’Diego’ Hernandez). After questioning Hernandez on May 31, investigators obtained warrants and said they recovered substantial evidence during searches of his properties. Authorities later arrested Hernandez and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with Donahue’s death.
Donahue’s family is left mourning an innocent life taken during an exchange of gunfire. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information is asked to come forward.
