Joseph Dorminey, 50, was a regional manager for Little Caesars in Leesburg, Georgia, and remembered by friends as a generous, community-minded man who organized a recent fundraiser for the local animal shelter. On the evening of Friday, May 3, 2024, while closing the U.S. 19 North restaurant and putting money in the safe, Dorminey was shot multiple times. Law enforcement arrived about 9:20 p.m. and found him with critical injuries; he was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany and later died of those wounds.

Investigators focused quickly on an employee, 28-year-old Daquan Divonte Harris of Lithonia. Authorities say video evidence reportedly showed Harris shooting Dorminey from behind; the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office worked the case and Harris was arrested and booked the morning of May 4, 2024. Charges announced include malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and armed robbery.

Anyone who knew Dorminey, worked at that Little Caesars, or has information about the night of May 3 is asked to come forward.
