Tausheba James Thompson, a 48-year-old Black man, was killed by gunfire on April 4, 2024, inside Bloomfield Townhomes at 4995 Bloomfield Road in Macon. Deputies responded to a 3:02 p.m. 911 call and found Thompson and a 22-year-old woman shot; both were taken to a hospital, but Thompson did not survive. The woman was initially reported in critical condition, later survived, and was released.

Initial statements confined the scene to the residence and described the incident as a death investigation while circumstances were being pieced together. A subsequent report said the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office considered Thompson the aggressor in the shoot-out, which shifted public framing toward a confrontation between participants rather than identifying the surviving woman as a publicly named murder suspect.

If anyone has information about what happened at the Bloomfield Townhomes on April 4, contact the investigators handling the case.
