Keyunte Stephens, 22, was killed by gunfire on December 6, 2023, on the 600 block of Willard Avenue in Albany, Georgia. Officers who responded to the shooting found Keyunte dead at the scene; two other people were seriously injured and taken to hospital — his 44-year-old father, Germaine Stephens, and a 19-year-old woman, Zenobia Tucker.
Police initially arrested Tray’veon Westbrook, 20, and Tyshaundre Jackson, 20, charging both with murder in Keyunte’s death and two counts of aggravated assault for the wounded victims. A third person, 35-year-old Basharia Tucker, was arrested on a tampering with evidence charge and booked into the Dougherty County Jail.
On December 13, 2023, after his release from hospital, Germaine Stephens was arrested and charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities say he introduced the act of gun violence and assault that led to multiple victims and the death. The investigation remains ongoing; anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS or an investigator at (229) 854-0103.
If anyone knew Keyunte or has information about the shooting, please come forward.
